1) Starting Low-carb with not enough knowledge
Like it or not there are many hidden carbs out there and you need to take the time before you start your diet to make sure that you can recognize and avoid these.
Knowledge will protect you. Read the book and learn how to read the labels. Then use your knowledge to help you avoid carbs by quickly scanning the ingredients list of any item you buy.
You can also ASK the DecarbDiet Community! Go to the Community Tab and post your question under Community Q&A.You maight be surprised how quickly someone will answer you
2) Giving up too easily
Your health is important and losing weight is a crucial part of becoming and staying healthy. It will take time for your body to get used to a low carb intake.
Don’t expect quick results. Sure some people drop kilos in the first two weeks but not all do. Stay focussed, calm and be consistent. Your patience WILL pay off.
3) Not Eating Enough Fat
The key to successful low carb dieting is the realization that carbs are the cause of your overweight problem and that you have to replace the carbs in your diet with fat.
This is really hard to do! Especially because of the years of “fat is bad for us” brainwashing we have had to endure for the past forty years. You will need to try hard to get the fat back in your diet but if you do, you will quickly benefit as your weight drops and your health improves.
4) Not Enough Veggies
Try hard to eat greens and veggies. This will help with constipation and add fibre to your diet.
The main vegetables to avoid are:
- Beetroot
- Carrots
- Peas
- Potatoes – obviously and including sweet potatoes
- Corn
- Butternuts
